  • Notes
    • Neva Byington Peterson was delivered into the loving arms of our heavenly father on June 6, 2018, after a long and lingering illness due to the complications of age.

Mom was born July 31, 1931, the second to youngest child of John Parley Byington and Marguerite Brennetta Smith Byington. She grew up in the area east of Ririe known as Popular and attended local schools. She met Dwain (Pete) Peterson on a blind date to a basketball game and later married him in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 15, 1948.

Mom enjoyed cooking, cleaning, camping, gardening, being a wonderful homemaker, and later in life, she was an avid birdwatcher and part-time birdfeed guard and squirrel chaser.

Neva was especially fond of her grandchildren, and they brought great joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and all 12 of her siblings.

Mom is survived by four sons: Brent (Shayla) Peterson, of Idaho Falls; Randall (Danette) Peterson, of Annis, Idaho; Kelly (Elaine) Peterson, of Idaho Falls; and Robert (Kim) Peterson, of Enumclaw, Washington; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A friend/family viewing and visitation will be held at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, followed by graveside services at Annis-Little Butte Cemetery at 11 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
